Connected smart home brand, Hive, and leading energy saving installer Effective Home, have today announced the first customer installation of Hive solar, which integrates solar panels and battery into the Hive App, marking a significant milestone in this innovative collaboration.
The first customer, Dan Coleman from Bristol shared his experience: “Effective Home surpassed my expectations with their solar installation service. From the initial consultation to the final installation, their team demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and efficiency. The seamless integration of solar panels into my home was impressive, and the diligent and informative installation team made the process even better. I wholeheartedly recommend Effective Home to anyone exploring solar energy solutions.”
With a solar system and the Hive app, customers will be able to access near real-time data on solar power generation and energy consumption. Users will be able to see how much solar energy they are generating, set budgets and even sell what they don’t need back to the grid to make money.
Consumers who haven’t already got solar panels are being encouraged to buy solar and battery to make a combined saving of up to £775 with solar, battery and an exclusive energy offer in their first year with the Hive Solar Saver energy offer, which ends 30th September 2024. (T&Cs apply).
Susan Wells, Low Carbon Homes Director at Hive said: “We’re committed to making solar simple for homeowners and putting the nation in control of their energy. By integrating solar into the Hive app, customers can better engage with their energy usage by tracking what they are generating and storing; and by selling excess energy back to the grid they are helping their pocket and the planet.”
Ben Williams, CCO, Effective Energy Group said: “For years, the market has needed a technological solution that assists customers with reducing their overall carbon footprint at home. Leading the way with Hive, we are solving that problem in the market. Through the partnerships we have built, and customer bases that British Gas and Hive have, we believe that Hive is an ideal product to inspire customers to do this.
“This groundbreaking whole-house approach means energy savings can be managed from one central place via the Hive app,” continued Ben.
The Energy Saving Trust estimates consumers can make an annual saving of £400-£500 on energy bills through solar.
