Who are Effective Energy?
Effective Energy was formed in 2008 to help companies in meeting carbon saving obligations and others tasked with delivering energy saving measures. We also help to transform homeowner’s lives by providing ECO funding to vulnerable homes in England, Scotland & Wales.
Effective Energy is proud of that work it has carried out in the 10 years it has been trading. Some of our more notable milestones are that we have funded over £200m worth of energy saving measures, Saved over 8MtCO2 to date and achieved over £200m of lifetime bill savings for our customers.
These milestones have come from the hard work that we have carried out in previous ECO schemes which started in 2008 with CERT. The Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) ran between 2008 and 2012. CERT required larger gas and electricity suppliers to achieve targets for reducing carbon emissions from domestic premises in Britain.
CESP started one year after in 2009 and ran alongside CERT until it too finished in 2012. CESP was designed to promote a ‘whole house’ approach and to treat as many properties as possible in defined geographical areas selected using the Income Domain of the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) in England, Scotland and Wales.
The first of the ECO schemes then started in 2013 with the emergence of ECO1. This had three main obligations which energy companies were required to meet. The obligations were the Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation (CERO), the Carbon Saving Community Obligation (CSCO) and the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO).
The next scheme, ECO2, launched in 2015 and ended in 2017. Suppliers were required to achieve the following cost and carbon savings – 19.7 Mt CO2 under CERO, 6 Mt CO2 under CSCO and £6.46 billion under HHCRO.
We are also very proud to be part of the Effective Energy Group which is an ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality accredited organisation. The group was formed in 2008 and now employs over 180 staff in the businesses you can see below.
